[edit] Mob Information

Daosheen the firstborn was the first scrykin created by Druzzil Ro. As such, he is the most powerful and the most corrupt. All scrykin, after their first hundred years of life or so, began to turn...

The central theme of the Daosheen fight are the crystals around the room. Daosheen himself is found in the center of the lower central platform. Though he appears to be rooted in place, he is not and can chase you anywhere in the zone.

Throughout the fight, he will cast several "single target AEs" that hit 4-6 people as well as some "half AEs" that will hit about half the raid. Curing these is the key to winning the fight. The colors in the above picture shows where each colored crystal is.

In addition to his myriad AEs, his melee attacks can do upwards of 5000 damage and he frequently AE Rampages. Because of this and his non-rooted status, applying constant damage can be difficult.

[edit] Adds

Throughout the fight, he spawns adds as his HP reach certain points.

At 90% and 80% he spawns 4 adds, one at each of the crystals. At 70, 60 and 50%, he spawns 8 adds, two at each of the crystals. At 40, 30, 20 and 10%, he spawns 12 adds, three at each of the crystals.

All dervish model adds are called a crystal spirit and are colored to reflect the crystal they spawned at. The have a chance to melee proc the spell that is cured by clicking on their colored crystal. All dervish adds are mezzable and despawn after approximately 80 seconds.

Sometimes a beholder model add will spawn. This is mezzable, but will not despawn and needs to be killed.

[edit] AEs/Emotes

Daosheen has 7 total spells at his disposal, 4 "single target AEs", 2 "half AEs" and one full AE.

[edit] Single Target Spells

These are cured by the afflicted person clicking once on the appropriately colored crystal. The emotes only go to the person who's afflicted with the spell.

  • Plague of Mana - 3000 HP /tick DoT - 10 minute duration - Green Cures
    • Audio trigger string: Your blood is tainted with magical essence
  • Curse of the Firstborn -300 to all stats - 10 minute duration - Yellow Cures
    • Audio trigger string: A festering darkness saps your strength
  • Presence of the Firstborn - Silence - 10 minute duration - Red Cures
    • Audio trigger string: You are dumbstruck by the presence of the firstborn
  • Smothering Dismay - Slow/snare - 10 minute duration - Blue Cures
    • Audio trigger string: You lose your will to fight

[edit] Mini AEs

Starting at 75% health, Daosheen will start casting these roughly every 80 seconds.

These are cured by anyone in the raid clicking crystals back to back in the appropriate sequence. These only hit people on the aggro list of Daosheen, so designated curers should stay FD'd or otherwise off his aggro list. The emotes are zonewide, so everyone can see when these spells are cast. They hit approximately 15-20 people per cast.

When curing these, each time a crystal is clicked it will "begin to glow" (eg. "The red crystal begins to glow"). The sequence must be completed before there are any other crystal based emotes such as "The crystals go dim" or "The yellow crystal emits a flash of light". When a successful sequence is activated the emote will be similar to "A bolt of light joins the red and blue crystals momentarily."

  • Aura of Stone - Unresistable Mez - 10 minute duration
    • Cure sequence: Red then Blue
    • Zonewide emote: Daosheen calls upon the elemental forces to contain his enemies
  • Runes of Alliance - Charm - 2.5 minute duration
    • Cure sequence: Yellow then Green
    • Zonewide emote: Allegiances shift as Daosheen speaks a cryptic phrase

[edit] Full AE

When Daosheen hits 10% health, then again at 5% health, he casts one massive AE that hits the entire raid. There is no emote attached to this AE, you just need to watch for the debuff.

The spell is Doom of the Firstborn. This is a death touch over time which lasts approximately 12 seconds. When the spell expires, the afflicted takes a death touch.

This can only be cured by clicking the crystals rapidly in sequence: red then yellow then blue then green.

Note: When he casts this spell it has a chance of breaking FD so curers should be ready to shed aggro so they aren't devoured by adds.

[edit] Strategies

There's really one main strategy here, setup the raid correctly, setup curers, handle adds, and whittle Daosheen down.

[edit] Setup

Vary this as needed.

  • The main raid force should be set up between the red and green crystals as these two offer cures to the most devastating single-target effects Daosheen uses.
  • Designated curers should be FD classes or Bards stationed one at each of the crystals. These should stay off Daosheen's aggro list for the entire fight, Bards fading when they get aggro from pops as needed.
  • Offtanks/mezzers should be assigned a crystal or two to pick up adds as they spawn, the number you need varies on the strength of those available.

[edit] Engaging

  • 90% health - adds start spawning every 10%.
  • 75% health - he begins casting the AE charm and mez spells
  • 15% health - No longer cast and DOT spell on Daosheen
  • 10% health - first DT is cast, it's advisable that no single target cures happen at this time as they can interrupt the cure sequence. 12 adds also spawn, further complicating things.
  • 5% health - second DT is cast, no adds are spawned though so it's a little less hectic.

[edit] Important Notes

  • If a charmed player gets the kill shot with a DOT, the corpse will poof and the task will not update, this is why no DOTs should be cast after 15%.
  • If Daosheen dies before the last wave of adds despawns, the adds will not despawn and must be killed.
