[edit] General Information

The tenth expansion to EverQuest is one of dark dungeons, filled with all sorts of evil creature; vampires, werewolves, and spiders abound. The expansion was discovered when the curse of Shadowspine created an explosion in Corathus Creep, causing a tunnel into the great network of caverns to be blown open in Nektulos Forest. Within the expansion, players unearth the mystery of Mayong Mistmoore, after he left his castle on Faydwer many years ago.

The plot started in this expansion continues in the Prophecy of Ro where Mayong rises to Godhood and attempts to gain control of the Plane of Music and finalizes in The Buried Sea where Mayong has moved on to the Plane of Sun.

[edit] Zones

[edit] Traditional Zones

Corathus Creep - the entry zone to the Depths of Darkhollow expansion, this bright cavern is full of gnomes, both living and mechanical. There are several vendors in this zone, along with a number of NPCs offering quests. This zone is mostly used as a path into the expansion.

Dreadspire Keep - the only locked zone in this expansion, this castle is Mayong Mistmoore's home. Many NPCs in the zone are non-aggressive. This zone is mainly used for the several quest NPCs, along with the entrance to The Demi-Plane of Blood, an instanced version of Dreadspire Keep. Mayong himself resides within the Demi-Plane.

The Hive - the massive home to many drachnids, this zone is popular because it contains the entrances to many significant instances, required for progression through the expansion. There is also an instanced version of this zone.

Ruins of Illsalin - a huge lake connected to the Undershore, containing the remains of Illsalin, the central city of the once-great Shiliskin empire. This zone harbors several quests, and contains the entrances to a large number of instances, raid and single-group alike.

Stoneroot Falls - at the bottom of every great waterfall, there is a great lake. This massive, cavernous lake contains the entrance to The Hive, along with the entrance to Dreadspire Keep for players who possess a Formal Dinner Invitation. Similar to the Ruins of Illsalin, it also contains many instances, raid and single-group alike.

Undershore - the zone to which players can teleport, using either spells or the Guild Hall portal, this zone contains many significant quest NPCs, along with several instances. It also connects the Ruins of Illsalin and Stoneroot Falls to Corathus Creep and, hence, the rest of Norrath.

[edit] Instances

The instances in this expansion are divided up based on their parent zone. As a result, they will be divided up in the same manner here.

[edit] Corathus Creep

Corathus Lair - this instance harbors two single-group missions, The Corathus Mines and The Rescue.

Sporali Caverns - unlike its brother, Corathus Lair, this instance harbors a whopping five missions; three single-group monster missions (Defending the Grove, Way of the Freemind, and Sporali Mind Meld), one regular single-group mission (Cavern Botany), and one 42-player raid mission (Antraygus, the Sporali King).

[edit] Dreadspire Keep

The Demi-Plane of Blood - within Dreadspire Keep, there is a mission that allows a full raid of 54 or fewer players to cross into the Demi-Plane of Blood, an extraplanar version of Dreadspire Keep. Entry into the Demi-Plane requires that players complete five raids (outlined in the Demi-Plane article). The Demi-Plane of Blood is the end-game zone of the Depths of Darkhollow expansion. It is often criticized for its difficulty and long clears; although it is also hailed for its unique raid events.

[edit] The Hive

Coven of the Skinwalkers - three single-group missions make their way into this zone; Rescue Cicero!, Find Fibblebrap 3: The Hive, and Spies Like Them.

The Hive - in addition to being a traditional zone, there is also an instanced version of The Hive, which harbors four missions; one single-group monster mission (Infiltrating the Hive), and three regular single-group missions (Freeing an Elder, The Lost Notebook, and The Orb of Subversion).

Living Larder - this instance is home to just one single-group mission, The Search for Clues.

Queen Sendaii's Lair - home to the queen of Drachnids herself, this small chamber is where players encounter Sendaii, the Hive Queen.

[edit] Stoneroot Falls

Caverns of the Lost - a deep network of caverns, this zone is home to the single-group mission Find Fibblebrap 2: Lost Caverns.

Chambers of Xill - also known as Stoneroot Falls: The City of Xill, this zone is a step backwards in time, to when the Xill empire reigned supreme over these caverns. Three single-group missions take place in this zone; A Rogue's Trust, Scouting the City, and Building the Disguise.

Lair of the Korlach - a dark, watery cavern in the northern portions of Stoneroot Falls, this zone contains a whopping five missions, the entirety of the "Korlach Leviathan" series. Four of these are single-group missions; The Search for Coral, Learning the Power, Discovering the Secret, and Taking Control. One is a raid mission, Korlach, the Deep Leviathan, in which a raid of players enters the Korlach's lair to slay the beast.

[edit] Undershore

Snarlstone Dens - a brightly lit cavern and home to the werewolf faction within the Depths of Darkhollow expansion, this instance contains four missions; one single-group monster mission (Shadowmane Invasion), two regular single-group missions (Confronting a Traitor and A Plea for Help), and one 54-person raid (Bloodeye).

Shadow Spine - players enter the demi-plane created by and found within these evil pages for one single-group mission, Into the Shadows.
