Druids are one of the most versatile classes in EverQuest. Having the ability to both heal and nuke at a rather good level (their heals are second only to Clerics), they have become renowned for their patch healing abilities. During the lower levels, they gain many helpful spells such as Spirit of Wolf, Levitate, Skin like Wood, the first in their "skin" (a widely used term that generally means the best hit point buff they currently have) line of spells, and other buffs which increase strength and other attributes. The most well-known Druid buff at the low levels is the damage shield, which is close to the Magician's damage shield spell line.
[edit] Kiting
Druids have been known to kite when soloing, which means to kill off mobs, staying out of their melee range and killing them with spell/ranged damage. Ideally this is accomplished by either improving run speed through buffs/AAs, or slowing the mob's run speed down with a snare; or a combination of these options (most popular). The three most widely used kiting styles in the Druid's arsenal are normal snare kiting, root-rotting, and quad kiting. The most ideal mobs are those who can be snared and don't summon.
| Snare | Keep the mob snared, run around in a distinct area and continue to nuke/DoT it until it is dead. Refresh snare if need be. |

| Root-rot | Tag a monster, snare and root it in one spot. Continue to dot it until it gets lower and lower on HP. With high end Root Stability AAs, nuking could be safe as well. |
| Quadding | Take four mobs, snare them all together, run them in a circle until they're tightly grouped, making sure they all walk at the same pace; use AoE nukes to harm them. If need be, use a direct nuke to pick off one mob if it gets low on HP. |
