Gnomes are one of the little races of Norrath. They are, in fact, shorter in stature than any other race. They're highly intelligent little people; they are the only race that can Tinker, creating anything from fun novelty fireworks to a clockwork army in the Plane of Innovation. Gnomes often give their creations clever names; such as Meldrath the Mad's Somewhat Hazardous Industrial Prototype Workshop, or S.H.I.P. Workshop for short.

Gnomes start with high Intelligence, Dexterity, and Charisma. They are an intelligent, curious race, but not a very sturdy one; their Strength and Stamina are nothing to brag about. Their Wisdom and Agility are both roughly average.
[edit] Classes
Gnomes can profess themselves as Clerics, Enchanters, Magicians, Necromancers, Rogues, Warriors, and Wizards. Due to their high intelligence and charisma, the Gnome is a great choice of race for any of the four silk-clad pure casters. They do not make great Warriors or Rogues due to their relatively weak physical condition. Their average wisdom makes them a decent choice for a Cleric, although the High Elves, Dark Elves, Frogloks, and Dwarves make better choices for the Cleric.

Gnomes dwell in the underground city of Ak`Anon, found within a mountain in the range of Steamfont on Faydwer. Gnomes, like all other races, have the option of setting their home city to Crescent Reach instead.
