Installation

[edit] General Information
This article provides guides to installing EverQuest. While the process is generally simple, there are hitches that can make it complicated. This article attempts to address those and make the process easy for newcomers to EverQuest.
[edit] Game Installation
Installing the EverQuest client is generally regarded as an easy process. If installing from CDs/DVDs, one can simply follow the prompts to install the game. If one has the discs missing, however, the game must be downloaded from the Sony online store. If one still has access to a system with the game installed, the only file that need be copied from that system is the patcher (EverQuest.exe); the patcher can download the rest of the game and expansions. We are currently debating with Sony the legality of making the patcher available for download from this site.
[edit] Running on Linux
Running EverQuest on Linux (or any Unix-based OS that is supported by WINE or Cedega) can be very tricky. See Installation/Linux for an in-depth guide to installing EverQuest on Linux. Linux is currently the only flavor of Unix supported by the EQ KnowledgePit.
