Proc rate

[edit] General Information

The term "proc rate" refers to the chance per attack round for a player to cast any given one of their innate spells. These innate spells can be provided by weapons and buffs (debuffs too, for that matter). Mobs can also have procs, which do not have to be provided by weapons and spell effects (although they can); mobs can simply have innate procs.

There are two common representations for proc rate; as a percentage, and as a number per minute. On EQ KnowledgePit, we represent proc rate as a percentage. The base proc rate is 2 per minute, so a proc modifier of 325% means a proc rate of 6.5 per minute. There are other sites that choose the number per minute approach; with our approach, the base proc rate is 2 per minute, so the same 325% proc modifier would be displayed as 6.5 on those sites.
