[edit] General Information

Prophecy of Ro was the eleventh expansion to EverQuest. It was a continuation of Depths of Darkhollow, similar to how Omens of War was a continuation to Gates of Discord. This expansion added the concept of Auras to the game, along with adding some new zones, including three new planes, each of which are divided up into several distinct zones.

[edit] Storyline

Once Mayong Mistmoore ascended to godhood, due to the denizens of Norrath slaying him, he began wreaking havoc upon the Pantheon. The first to fall was Ayonae Ro, and Mayong corrupted her beautiful Plane of Music, turning it into the twisted Theater of Blood. Several of the gods saw the devastation this could bring upon Norrath, and so, opened their planes up to the mortals. Druzzil Ro opened her Plane of Magic, creating a portal to Arcstone within the library of Freeport. Sullon Zek turned a statue of herself within the Freeport arena into a portal to the Plane of Rage, also known as The Devastation. And finally, with help from Karana's rains, Tunare exposed the ruins of Takish-Hiz; and with the help of Druzzil Ro's magic, created a portal into the past, to the glory that was the great elf city, before Solusek Ro scorched the lands, turning the lush Elddar Forest into the Desert of Ro, and creating the Serpent's Spine mountains.

[edit] Zones

[edit] Zone Revamps

In addition to adding a number of zones, this expansion also marked the revamping of several zones:

[edit] Traditional Zones

Arcstone, Isle of Spirits - the floating island at the bottom of the Plane of Magic, this zone is home to all sorts of magical creature, including Scrykins, creation of Druzzil Ro, similar to how the elves are Tunare's creation.

The Devastation - the great field of war that makes up the outer boundaries of the Plane of Rage, this zone houses several quests, including a few for progression, along with the entrance to Sverag.

The Elddar Forest - a lush forest containing Takish-Hiz, ancient city of the elves, this zone is accessed using a portal through time, created by Druzzil Ro and Tunare, found in the Ruins of Takish-Hiz. This forest will eventually be scorched by Solusek Ro, turning it into the Desert of Ro, when he creates the Serpent's Spine mountains.

Freeport Sewers - although added with the Freeport revamp done by this expansion, a player is not required to own Prophecy of Ro to enter the Freeport Sewers. This zone is a sewer; it's full of rats, oozes, scorpions, all sorts of sewer-dwelling creature.

Relic, the Artifact City - the magical city above Arcstone, connected by Skylance, this zone is also housed within the Plane of Magic. Found within are three dragons; Ashenback, Shar`Drahn, and Tsikut. Each drop loot comparable to that found within Anguish, the Fallen Palace. Also notable is Porthio the Second Born, another raid mob, more powerful than the dragons, who drops items comparable to The Demi-Plane of Blood.

The Ruins of Takish-Hiz - at the bottom of a deep cave found in South Ro, uncovered by Tunare with help from Karana's rains, this is what remains of the once-great elven city of Takish-Hiz, after Solusek Ro scorched the Elddar Forest when he created the Serpent's Spine mountains, turning it into the Desert of Ro. Several quests are found within, along with a portal backwards in time, to the ancient Elddar Forest.

"Other Planes" map
A map of the "Other Planes" section of the in-game atlas, which includes zones from Prophecy of Ro

Sverag, Stronghold of Rage - the fortress found within the Plane of Rage, in the center of The Devastation, this zone houses the powerful champions of Sullon Zek. Whichever one of the four warring factions in The Devastation is winning at a given time, controls Sverag; all the mobs within Sverag, including the raid mob, are of that faction and type. Within Sverag is the entrance to Razorthorn, Tower of Sullon Zek.

Theater of Blood - previously the beautiful Plane of Music, this zone along with its goddess, Ayonae Ro, fell to Mayong Mistmoore's corruption. Required for entry into this zone is the Twisted Harmonic Chime, whose right-click effect teleports players into the zone. Found within is Deathknell, Tower of Dissonance, where the corrupted Ayonae Ro herself resides, just waiting for players to come free her Mayong's grasp. Also within the zone are several raid mobs.
