Soulbound

The term soulbound is used to describe keys that enter a player's keyring upon first use. It was once used to describe keys which would remain with their owner even through death. Originally there was no keyring. Instead the keys would remain in the player's inventory upon respawning after death. Upon the release of Planes of Power, the keyring was implemented.

Before soulbound keys were implemented, people would farm a second copy of the key and leave it on a corpse outside the zone line so they could get back in if they died... and this was before the implementation of Shadowrest and the corpse would completely decay after 7 days.
