Old Spectre Model

Spectres are robed undead who cling to the mortal realm. Often times they carry a large weapon such as a scythe or an ax with an extra long handle.

Spectres were originally thought to be exclusively creations of Cazic Thule as they were found guarding his Plane of Fear. In addition, the Iksar race seemed able to create and control spectres (at least so much as to use them as tomb guards) lending credibility to the theory they were taught this by their creator. Bertoxxulous even employs spectres, though given his alliance with Cazic, these could be his.

Recently, however, it has been found that the Efreeti have some control over death and are able to manipulate (if not create) spectres. Their artifact, the Efreeti Death Visage, is able to make anyone appear as a spectre. Their power over death is of unknown origins.
