Aviaks are a race of bird-men that inhabit Norrath. They come in two different varieties, the hawk-like aviaks and the parrot-like spirocs.

[edit] Aviaks
The hawk-like variety are referred to simply as "aviaks" and are found primarily in the Plains of Karana, though they've also established small settlements on the shores of Lake Rathetear and some islands in the Ocean of Tears. The settlement in the Ocean of Tears is made up of the spiroc variety of aviaks, but they are referred to as generic aviaks for the most part.

The spiroc are direct cousins of the aviak, the most startling difference being the coloration of their feathers and shape of their beak. Spirocs are found primarily within the Timorous Deep, but also serve as protectors of Veeshan in the Plane of Sky. The Spiroc Lord is in fact a major guardian in the Plane of Sky and was briefly considered unbeatable prior to the launch of Ruins of Kunark.
