Like so many expansions before it, progressing through The Buried Sea requires working up several factions. Purchasing equipment, power sources, disciplines/spells, and other items from the vendors in The Buried Sea requires varying levels with their respective factions.
- Blacksail Smugglers - these guys sell lower-end gear and the rank one versions of all the disciplines/spells
- Combine Empire Merchants - considered by many to be the only important faction in the expansion, faction with these guys nets you access to the higher quality power sources, rank two disciplines, Tacvi-quality gear, and the mission arc to access Solteris, the Throne of Ro. Not to mention the meat of the expansion's lore.
