This quest is useful mostly for faction with Combine Empire Merchants, although it also provides a little experience and money.

This quest is given by Guard Captain Parvus in Katta Castrum, at location (-600, -70, -30), near the Druid/Wizard port in. When requesting the mission, the dialogue goes as follows:

Guard Captain Parvus glances over you quickly as you approach. 'Well you're rather small for a Race aren't you? Oh well, you're here, so I'll make use of you. I'd thought the council had forgotten about sending me a [special agent]. Let's go to work quickly. The Shissar threat isn't getting any smaller while we stand here yammering!' You say, 'I'm a special agent?' Guard Captain Parvus says 'Indeed Soandso. You've been chosen for a very special mission, but first I need to make sure you're up to the challenge. Feel like slicing up some [serpents]?' You say, 'The serpents are what need be killed?' You have been assigned the task 'The Serpent Slayer'. Guard Captain Parvus 'Yes, they bring constant assaults against all of our gates across the inner city. Surely you've encountered them as you've explored the area. My guards have become fairly adept at countering their attacks, but it's time to go on the offensive! Venture into the outer districts of the old city and slay as many of those dirt-eating worms as you can!' | ” |

[edit] Quest Walkthrough
This task is probably the simplest out of all the solo tasks for faction in Katta Castrum. The meat of the quest is simply to kill any 20 Shissar in Katta Castrum; being grouped with somebody when they kill one is sufficient. Simply getting a few people together and finding a camp from which to kill Shissar will see this quest finished in short order. Once the 20th Shissar is killed, the first objective will complete itself, and the only thing left to do is to go back and talk to Guard Captain Parvus to complete the second, and get your faction and other rewards:
