[edit] caching

I don't know a whole ton about server loads and caching. Can it be set to only cache a page for X amount of time? Or clear cache whenever there's an update to the item database? Just tossing ideas out there.

[edit] Excellent

Works as I'd hope to see.

Now the policy question... do you want "Link needed" next to items that are missing links? Or just do the item like <il>Item_01</il> and let the link add itself automatically? I'm guessing the latter is cleaner.

[edit] Re: Error

I'd definitely prefer to see it return an exact match, and if no match, then just bold the item name like it does with the item_id. That's just my preference though... not much value in getting the wrong item linked :(

[edit] Error

something's wrong, but I don't see it from looking at the code.

When entering an item that's not in the database yet, it's returning the last item that was looked up (or it apperas to be).

I tried editting the Plate armor section on SoF Tier 1 armor guide and adding <il>Warped Steel Helm</il> just to see what it'd show... and it came back with a link to the arms as such: Warped Steel Helm.

[edit] il follow up

I'll make it happen. I'll do it the same way that the drop/vendor/reward/quest item editor accepts the item name...if it finds more than one exact match, it will fail; if it finds one exact match, it will use that; and if it finds zero exact matches, it will use the one with the highest (according to MySQL) relevance ;)

I was thinking it could exactly mirror the "il" tag

Select item_num from items where item_name IS "string"

If records < 1 then output=" item_name else moveRecort(0); output=" link to item_num, display item_name"

If more than one exact match is found it just uses the first... in that case you'd have to use the existing "il" tag to get the link you want.

But I don't even know what language this is written in, let alone if that's even feasible.

[edit] il tag request

Any chance the "il" tag set can function so that it uses the item name rather than the item number (or at least an extra tag that does that)? It's much easier to type an exact name out than to use the search function... especially since the search seems to "OR" all words rather than "AND"... searching for "Warped Steel" was crazy.

[edit] EQWiki

Unfortunately I probably wouldn't be much use as an editor. As you can see from EQWiki I haven't been very active lately, although I'll probably be more active once the new expansion is released. Similarily, I'd like to keep the eqwiki.net domain for myself although if I ever decide to give up EQ entirely I'd likely just give it to you.

If its at all useful I can give you the source code for the item/spell/set pages, although I created them quickly so their quality isn't that impressive I fear. Thanks for the note about reCaptcha as well...I have recently installed it on the uesp.net wiki (my main site and hobby) and it works well. -- Reorx (207.188.78.44 11:47, 8 November 2007 (EST))
