This task starts with Vendarg Brittlebrew, found in the small camp near the Steamfont Mountains zone line in Loping Plains. It yields some experience and faction with the Fang Breakers.

To start this task, hail Vendarg Brittlebrew in the Loping Plains, and follow the dialog:

Vendarg Brittlebrew says 'Salutations Race! I am Vendarg Brittlebrew, a humble merchant from Kaladim. I've come here to trade and barter my way towards fame and coin. . .lots and lots of coin! However, I seem to be having a few difficulties lately in acquiring that coin. For one, I have nothing to sell. Secondly, I have no customers to sell to! This is a tight spot indeed. Hey! Wait a sec, maybe you can [help].' You say, 'I could probably help.' Vendarg Brittlebrew says 'Yeah. . .Maybe you can! One of my buddies back in Kaladim gave me this tip about a cave off in the western portion of this area called the Decaying Caverns. He was saying that his sister's husband's cousin mined some rare ore from that cave and sold it for big bucks back in Kaladim! This is where you [come] in!' You say, 'How do I come in here?' You have been assigned the task 'Worked to the Bone' Vendarg Brittlebrew says 'Well, I've heard a rumor these caverns have some not-so-living creatures; "undead" if you will. They sound scary, so I'd like you to go there and clear out the caverns for me so I can mine in peace! Oh, one other thing -- I don't have a map of the caverns! So take this mapping parchment, kill some undead, and report back to me after the deed is done!' | ” |

At this point you are given Vendarg's Mapping Parchment and asked to check out the vampire caves. Keep this parchment in your inventory throughout the task.
NOTE: You should also be working on The Lost Necklace as that task also involves killing the vampires that this quest does.

The cavern entrance is located at location (300, 2950, 330) just south of the narrow passage leading to the Hills of Shade. Simply walking into the mouth of the cave updates the task.
Completing this stage opens up the next two.
[edit] Kill 12 vampires
There are several types of vampires in the cave. All are casters. There are a vampire reaver, a vampire necromancer and a vampire healer as well as at least one named vampire. The non-named vampires do not summon and are kitable, though the healers can pose problems.
They are found in the dead end rooms in the cavern in groups of two or three. The far north room is bugged and the vampires in that cavern will path into the wall and disappear under the world.
[edit] Map the caverns by exploring the caves thoroughly.
To get this update, simply go into the southernmost room in the cave with the parchment in your inventory. You should be able to get this update without running into any vampires, but if you're worried, the vampires do not see through Invisibility Versus Undead.
[edit] Return the Mapping Parchment to Vendarg
Simply head back to the Fang Breakers camp and hand the parchment to Vendarg.

You'll receive a pittance of experience, some faction with Fang Breakers and possibly a piece of the Bloodmoon Taxidermy quest (depending on other tasks completed).
