[edit] General Information
Zi-Thuuli of the Granite Claw is generally the first mob that a raid encounters in the Demi-Plane of Blood. He can spawn following the death of any level 73+ mob in the zone, including both trash and mobs like Redfang or Hatchet. The major kicker for this fight, aside from his high DPS, is his DT over time, cast randomly on players in the raid (similar to Vishimtar the Fallen). Even with that taken into account, he's little more than a simple spank-and-tank. Many guilds will manage to kill him on their first or second try.
[edit] Spawn/Despawn Cycle
Zi-Thuuli can spawn following the death of any level 73+ mob in the zone, and will spawn a total of four times, despawning between 40% and 60% of his health for the first three; the fourth time, he will go until death. Every time he spawns and despawns, he sends out a zonewide message. For his complete spawn/despawn cycle, the emotes go as follows:
| “ | Zi-Thuuli growls in a booming voice, 'Caught by surprise, mortals?'
Zi-Thuuli growls in a booming voice, 'Your show of force is impressive, fleshy ones. The Master was right about you. We will meet again, very soon.' Zi-Thuuli growls in a booming voice, 'Caught by surprise, mortals?' Zi-Thuuli growls in a booming voice, 'Once again the mortals put up an admirable fight. This bodes well. The Master himself may even wish to meet you.' Zi-Thuuli growls in a booming voice, 'Caught by surprise, mortals?' Zi-Thuuli growls in a booming voice, 'Perhaps next time Graniteclaw will catch you off guard. One way or another, the next time we cross paths will be the last.' Zi-Thuuli growls in a booming voice, 'Caught by surprise, mortals?' | ” |

[edit] Spreading Stone
Other than the random spawning, the only major kicker of this fight is Zi-Thuuli's DT over time, called Spreading Stone. Like other DTs over time, this must be cured before it fades in order to ensure survival. Unlike other DTs over time, however, this one includes a gargoyle illusion, making it easy for curers to pick out who has the curse. It has 16 curse counters, and can be cured with Remove Greater Curse, Radiant Cure, and other spells.
[edit] Additional Effects
In addition to Spreading Stone, Zi-Thuuli has several other, considerably less notable, effects:
- Gargoyle Swipe - PBAoE 1000 DD, with a range of 32. The resist check is SvMagic -1000 (effectively unresistable), and the recast time is 60 seconds.
- Stone Throw - PBAoE 2-second stun and 975 DD, with a range of 25. The resist check is SvCold -100, and the recast time is 45 seconds.
- Wings of the Gargoyle, PBAoE 5500 DD and gravity flux, with a range of 1000 (basically unavoidable). The resist check is Chromatic -450, and the recast time is 40 seconds.
- Immobilizing Stone - single-target 6-second stun, 1000 DD, and feign death. The resist check is SvDisease -500, and the recast time is 18 seconds.
[edit] Loot
Every kill, Zi-Thuuli drops six Rune-Etched Stones, an item for one of the four quests (Irrissa's Pool in this case) that help block the zonewide AoE in Demi-Plane of Blood. He can also drop a Last Blood.
[edit] a battered steel chest
When Zi-Thuuli dies, a chest, called "a battered steel chest" spawns with additional, more traditional, loot in it. This chest is trapped with Devouring Mites, a 2250 DoT with 50 disease counters. The trap must be disarmed and the chest either unlocked or beaten open.
